'Happy Birthday' comes so easily to these lips as I sit in the park,

Today I am walking alone on streets decorated in sugar plums and fairies,
Late into the evening bundled in my scarf I smiled at the laughing passerbys,
Tonight I have said that we are on a simple, little date,
A first of many that will come in later years I think as I wade through the giggles.
The many birthdays that I peek in through the open doorways of warm bars,
Stars shining like little beacons of light in the dark night sky,
They are all sharing this common sound of laughter as I sit down,
